I listen to talk radio all day. COTR can get really old and/or annoying pretty quick. They do bring something to the table though, it's lighter than Garrison, Rush, and Dana. Unfortunately, I cannot get Dave Ramsey in the building or I'd listen to him during Rush's spot.

And I think this is a valid point. Those on the fence (and younger than us) will give them some listen time and that is good for cause.

As one of those "on-the-fence", I have been giving them some time since I saw this thread.

Today they played an interview of our INGO Superstar, Guy Relford. It was pretty interesting. But after that, they had a conversation on "Furries"... (people that dress up as animals, and get freaky as animals). So, killed the mood. Was awesome to hear Guy on there though. It was a good interview.

I have already emailed the program director of WIBC and told him that I change the station every time they come on. They are shrill, shallow harpies. They sound like the PBS radio chicks from Saturday Night Live, trying to be young and "hip". I actually heard one of them use the term "whack" twice in a half hour period. No one has used the term "whack" since the 90's. That would be like calling something "Def".
As for alternatives, I have listened to Abdul since his tryout on WXNT. That has been almost 10 yrs. He is one of the best investigative journalists in this town, and he isn't a journalist!
As for Dana, she gets on my nerves sometimes, but not like the COTR. I would be ecstatic if they gave Dana 3hrs in a row starting at 3, then a couple of hours of Abdul, then if they want to put on an hour of COTR, that would be fine (I'm not listening then!)

Daisy, one of the COTR duo, is a member here on INGO (mainly as a reader), she’s also an active shooter/LTCH holder, as is her son, and me (her husband). While it’s easy to cast stones about someone based only on what you hear in about 40 minutes of radio time, that 40 minutes doesn’t define a person.

Most don’t have a clue that Daisy just gave up a great job, doing medical writing, to take this gig. She and Mock have been doing this for 5 years (in addition to their full time jobs), building a web presence as well as a Facebook following (that grows at a rate of 12,000 per week). They do what they do because they are trying to make a difference in a narrative that’s been saturated by a sea of white dudes on the radio. Their format is different, and that’s by design.

While it’s not fun reading some of the remarks here directed at my spouse, I’ll fight for your right to state them, even if you don’t have a clue about those you are throwing stones at. Honestly, compared to the death threats she gets on a regular basis, at least the comments here don’t go down that path.

COTR is on the air in the spot they have because they were selected by WIBC after a month of try-outs against a group of others, some mentioned here. As others have suggested, if you don’t care for the show, I’m sure the TUNE or the ON/OFF buttons on your radio will work just fine.

Ranger, though I've never heard the COTR radio show, I've enjoyed their stuff that comes across my Facebook feed. Funny thing is, until this thread, I didn't realize the ladies were local--I say Congratulations! And I wish them great success.

I am late to the party here but have read the previous 5 pages and have to say I really really like them. I think the format is fun and light. I listen to Garrison almost everyday and enjoy his show, I catch Rush 2-3 times a week and like him less but enjoy the national "big picture" views but have to say the guys can be real Debbie downers at times. At the end of the day the chicks give enough serious insight and different perspective to keep me thinking but also give me a good laugh or two.

Oh yeah...I've always got some close by.

Wise thing...having separate his and hers computers. My wife tried using my Ipad last weekend and it took me 30 minutes switching back all the settings she said she didn't mess with.

Wow...lots of opinion flowing in here. I normally avoid the "General Political" forum because I simply cannot compete with the mental aptitude of some, however a few here have poked at my Chicks. I listen often and like the show. I'm guessing I fall into their general demographic: 30 something, conservative female, college degree, mother of four, and LTCH... I listen to Rush and go back and forth between being angry and my head popping off. I'm not an Abdul fan much anymore but listened to him when he was here a few years back. I just cant take Dana for more than a few moments...she's a little more angry than what I'm interested in.

I genuinely like how the Chicks manage to cover some serious topics without getting my blood pressure up and having fun bits that keep it light too. It's the drive home time slot for crying out loud, it's not supposed to be heavy and they manage to do a great job of engaging the brain without going overboard.

I love my wife too, but I can honestly say I wouldn't want to listen to her and her best friend do 2 hours every afternoon either. I think you're taking this way too personally. If they're doing what they're doing by design, it seems silly to scold people who don't enjoy it.

The odd thing is I enjoy their posts on Facebook and website. I enjoyed the weekend show too. Best of luck to them and I hope they are successful. Most successful people have left something steady to take a chance, by the way. I've shut them off for the most part, much like I did Ed Wenk prior. The market will provide me with something else to listen to eventually.

Sorry, I really didn't think my post was scolding at all, but when I see posts like this:

They're talking about a makeover, but the biggest image problem of conservatives (specifically the Republican party) is that it's all old people. These chicks look like they're in their mid to late 40s already (if not older) or is the "plastic surgery" makeover that they're going towards. You know, the fake stuff.


I think I have right to speak up, and so I did. As I said, you're free to listen or not, America and radios work that way. I don't listen much myself, and I get it that many don't because it's just not their bag. That's cool. It's not by bag at all times either, but I'm busy taking care of our 3 year old in the afternoons so listening time for me is minimal. My only pushback here is that Daisy is attacked at a personal level daily, using words that most Naval Officers would blush at. So, if I took it to a personal level on a daily basis, I'd be divorced or dead from the stress. I know Daisy appreciates all that follow their show/site, so thank you for participating.

Again, thanks for following them, and I have no issue with anyone not like their show, that's a choice we have here in our country, and that choice is something that COTR believes in strongly.
