I know most people carry where ever they go but are there times when anyone feels it's not necessary and are there some that just carry ocassionally?

I make it a point to ALWAYS have a gun with me, the exception being at work. Then it resided in my car and goes back on after I leave work. There are times I've taken it off before I go in someplace but that is VERY rare.

I rarely carry when swimming. ;)

Deciding when and where to carry has nothing to do with being "necessary".

    Think of it this way..

When I drive, I ALWAYS have a good spare tire+jack.

At home, I ALWAYS have a fire extinguisher.

At home, I ALWAYS have working smoke detectors.

^^^I hope to NEVER have to use these things either..

    Get the drift?? Bill.

Maybe necessary was the wrong word. I was talking to a friend a few months back and we were discussing carry. He is one that doesn't always carry but at times, he said he felt it necessary. For example, using an atm, gas station runs, metal detecting, etc.

That's the reason why he's always armed!

It's real simple. Look at the places shootings have already happened. Church, movies, day spa, restaurant etc etc etc. People that want to harm others are EVERYWHERE. So that's where I carry. Everywhere (that wont be get me thrown in jail)

I carry wherever I'm legally allowed unless the circumstances don't allow me to. I would wear sweatpants in the gym with an ankle holster but the gym I use is in the building I work at.

I've got some friends that don't carry all the time. We've talked about it and they don't feel the need to.

I'm yet to find a crystal ball that will tell me when I don't need it with 100% accuracy, so until then I carry.

There is a certain amount of risk assessment that goes into it. Being prepared vs convenience.

Some people only carry in "high risk" areas but we never really know where the threat will come from.

Others carry even where they are not supposed to. Its just all how you look at it.

Ask your friend where he obtained the force field that protects him at other locations. I'd like to buy one.
