On the second page of this thread and I can't believe I'll be the first one who says I can't stand Christmas music.

For those of us, may I present SomaFM's Xmas in Frisco. It's internet radio for those that would rather punch a baby than hear Little Drummer Boy.

SomaFM: Xmas in Frisko: SomaFM's wacky and eclectic holiday mix. Not for the easily offended. Commercial-free, Listener-supported Radio
    Many songs NSFW.

I love Christmas music as well. I prefer the songs I grew up with. Bing Crosby singing most of them, but gotta have Dean Martin for Silver Bells, Burl Ives for Holly Jolly Christmas and Jimmy Durante singing Frosty the Snowman ;)

I like these also. I really like the duet with Bing Crosby and David Bowie doing Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy. Kinda cool to see two very different styles come together.

I also like to newer stuff. I have XM so I have a few stations that I flip to.

    I concur Doctor ;)

I didnt get to celebrate Christmas growing up. So for me as a dad celebrating it with my children I myself feel like a little kid experiencing it for the first time and I try to ensure I make lasting memories for them with Christmas and other holidays and birthdays. Christmas is magical and music is a huge part of it. I also really enjoy the classic songs.

I dunno. I saw that played for first time on TV when I was a kid, and at the time I thought it (at least the video part) was the creepiest thing I had ever seen to that point. :dunno: Never went near it again.

I don’t think I have seen the video. Just like the harmonizing. But that could be because I like both artists.

As a kid my favorite was Little Drummer Boy.

Recently, it was bumped by this one.
Background music by Mannheim Steamroller, Mr. Smitty you may recognize it.

I kind of want to do this in my Christmas Light Display, but at 5 minutes, and a slow beat, I worry it will only be interesting for me. So I haven't decided to put it in my display... yet.

Written by former Marine Corporal James M. Schmidt, in 1987 when stationed in Washington D.C., it was pounded out on a typewriter while awaiting the commading officer's Christmas holiday decoration inspection. It was originally title "Merry Christmas, My Friend", and was an instant success that reportedly brought tears to the eyes of the barrracks Commander who ordered it distributed to everyone he knew. It appeared in the barracks publication Pass in Review in December 1987 and Leatherneck Magazine in December 1991.
The poem was recorded as a tribute by Father Ted Berndt, a former Marine and Purple Heart recipient during World War II, currently residing in Dousman, Wisconsin for his daughter Ellen Stout, a Clear Channel radio personality.

    Here's the original poem:

    MERRY CHRISTMAS, MY FRIEND
'Twas the night before Christmas, he lived all alone,
In a one-bedroom house made of plaster and stone.
I had come down the chimney, with presents to give
and to see just who in this home did live.

As I looked all about, a strange sight I did see,
no tinsel, no presents, not even a tree.
No stocking by the fire, just boots filled with sand.
On the wall hung pictures of a far distant land.

With medals and badges, awards of all kind,
a sobering thought soon came to my mind.
For this house was different, unlike any I'd seen.
This was the home of a U.S. Marine.

I'd heard stories about them, I had to see more,
so I walked down the hall and pushed open the door.
And there he lay sleeping, silent, alone,
Curled up on the floor in his one-bedroom home.

He seemed so gentle, his face so serene,
    Not how I pictured a U.S. Marine.
Was this the hero, of whom I'd just read?
Curled up in his poncho, a floor for his bed?

His head was clean-shaven, his weathered face tan.
I soon understood, this was more than a man.
For I realized the families that I saw that night,
owed their lives to these men, who were willing to fight.

Soon around the Nation, the children would play,
And grown-ups would celebrate on a bright Christmas day.
They all enjoyed freedom, each month and all year,
because of Marines like this one lying here.

I couldn't help wonder how many lay alone,
on a cold Christmas Eve, in a land far from home.
Just the very thought brought a tear to my eye.
I dropped to my knees and I started to cry.

He must have awoken, for I heard a rough voice,
"Santa, don't cry, this life is my choice
I fight for freedom, I don't ask for more.
My life is my God, my country, my Corps."

With that he rolled over, drifted off into sleep,
I couldn't control it, I continued to weep.

I watched him for hours, so silent and still.
I noticed he shivered from the cold night's chill.
So I took off my jacket, the one made of red,
and covered this Marine from his toes to his head.
Then I put on his T-shirt of scarlet and gold,
with an eagle, globe and anchor emblazoned so bold.
And although it barely fit me, I began to swell with pride,
and for one shining moment, I was Marine Corps deep inside.

I didn't want to leave him so quiet in the night,
this guardian of honor so willing to fight.
But half asleep he rolled over, and in a voice clean and pure,
said "Carry on, Santa, it's Christmas Day, all secure."
One look at my watch and I knew he was right,
Merry Christmas my friend, Semper Fi and goodnight.

I spend a lot of time listening to oldies artists with their Christmas music. Many of them are quite good.

Bob Seger did what is my favorite version of Little Drummer Boy.

    Here's my all time favorite.

Another vote for the Christmas Chronicles. If I had paid to go see that or bought it on DVD I would NOT be dissatisfied. If you have Netflix, its worth the 90 ish minutes of your day.

I actually want it on DVD. If it is ever released, I'm buying it.
