So today I made a trip into Indy, and while there went to circle center mall. While there, went through some stores with my girlfriend, stopped in at Kay's, so she could look at jewlery. We we there for maybe 20 mins. After leaving the store, we started walking back to the skywalk to leave. A security guard whom I had passed a minute before followed us, and approached me. He told me that someone had complained about my gun, and he had to escort me out. The guard was very polite, and I don't hold anything against him. Confused at first as to what he was saying, I started asking questions. He then said that they can/will call IPD to escort us out. Being as I didn't want a scene, it was private property, and we were leaving anyway, I let the guard escort us out. On the way out, I kindly asked the guard to pass along to his management that due to their companies policy, I would never come back to their establishment. As for me, I was indifferent about the situation, but it was very embarrassing for my girlfriend and kind annoying to me. Has anyone else had this experience at circle center mall? Any advice to what to do now. Thought about trying to contact Simon malls and raise he'll, but that would most likley fall on deaf ears. Thanks!

All Simon malls are posted and you will be asked to leave. The Simon group is notoriously anti-gun, and so complaining will do little good. You're better off writing letters to their anchor stores and let them put pressure on Simon. I've had several security guards tell me that as long as you don't make them officially notice your gun, then they'll probably not officially notice it, if you get my drift.

im not criticizing in any way shape or form, but in what manner were you carrying that your gun was seen to be complained about in the first place ? to the best of my knowledge, in 25 years of carrying my gun has never been noticed... as i said : to the best of my knowledge ... might have been at some point, just never complained about .

Open carry. Glock in a fobus holster

Well there's your problem. Regardless of whether you normally OC or CC, you really can't expect to OC in a place with POSTED SIGNS that is KNOW TO BE ANTI-GUN and not encounter issues. I avoid Simon malls whenever possible, but with that said, I've never gone to one unarmed nor have I ever been asked to leave. Sometimes personal safety trumps political statement (whatever your reason for choosing OC).

I never saw any signs posted. I wasn't really looking, but never saw them. If I did, I probably would have thrown my shirt over it or something.
They are posted at every entrance. I won't comply with them, but I won't draw attention to my non-compliance either. I normally practice "sloppy CC" in an OWB paddle with an untucked shirt kind of covering it. If I know I'm going somewhere where I'd be asked to leave I'll opt for the MTAC IWB.

i guess if you HAD seen the sign then you should have gone to the nearest security guard for your personal escort during your shopping trip as THEY apparently have taken responsibility for your security by denying you the means to handle it yourself ... sarcasm intended

Simon's competitors enforce the same policy. They seem to think it absolves them of liability if there were an incident.

I'm patiently awaiting a case where someone who was prevented a means to protect themselves results in a suit for the mall failing to provide adequate protection to see where it goes. Will it ever happen? Who knows.

Case in point: entering a mall = cover up

I and others have carried there no problem, I semi concealed and walked past many guards no issues. OC on Simon properties will get you stopped rather quickly.

whats funny is that if you were a cop then it would be ok I bet.
