Cleaning plastic ammo boxes?

Anyone have suggestions on how to clean up 50 & 100 round plastic ammo boxes with waxy, lead & what appears to be carbon buildup?

I just wash mine in the sink with dish soap. It works well enough for me.

you might try 1 in the dishwasher on the top shelf and see if it can handle the heat. -Jason

Thought about that but have concerns about lead

Do not put them in the dishwasher, there is too much lead residue on them too for that to be safe

I was thinking warm water and dishwashing liquid (Dawn?) and maybe a scrub brush to help with the lead. Agree on not doing it in the dishwasher. I probably wouldn't do it in the kitchen sink either, but a bucket, utility pan, or utility sink instead.

And to thread jack..

For the most part, your CLEAN Factory, or reloaded ammo will not dirty the ammo boxes.
They get real nasty when you put your fired cases back in them..Take yourself a Wally World bag or coffee can for your fired brass and put your nice boxes back into your range bag for the next round of CLEAN ammo...Bill.
