I was returned some 10/22 Liberty Trainer Rifles that I loaned to family and found something annoying in the case. My favorite of these rifles was cased a while ago with a GI sling over the barrel. It was either sweaty or wet. So naturally, the barrel now has a decent section of rust. Not terribly deep, but very easy to feel.

I've heard of using steel wool to clean this up. Is that the best method? How do I touch up the bluing after I clean the rust off.
