I made up my mind, I just filled out the paper work today to order a special field grade m1 from the CMP, I'm malling it tomarrow. I'm exited. It's cheaper just to order it, I don't have to pay tax or shipping. We're still going on the trip to Ohio for sure though. We will probably check out a few a few of the places you guys mentioned thanks for the advice.

    What price did you pay?
As I recall the "D" model was a special sniper with scope mounts.

M1D prices vary by grade and manufacture. Because they are a bit rare, the Winchester receivers sell for a premium over Springfield Armory receivers.

WRA Service grade $1735, SA Service Grade $1535, WRA Field Grade $1535, SA Field Grade $1235, SA Rack Grade $935. Those prices do not include scope mount and scope.
