Check out this sign on the window of the new Kay Jewelers in Columbus, IN. A Pretty bold statement to say ..."on or onto this land, parking lot or premises."

This store is located in the shopping plaza next to Target and behind DQ.

Looks like they just advised the bad guys where it is best to attack. No defense in this place. Nothing to fear. Smash and grab and be on your way with nothing to fear. Even I could figure out how to hit this shop since I know there is no armed defender on site.

Risky way to run a business it seems to me.

If I were on the criminal trespassing jury for a case arising out of that, I'd adjudicate that the sign is too low and transparent. Easy to overlook. Hence, not in a place "likely to come to the attention of the public". If the proprietor of this Kay's Jewelry store has the courage of his convictions, he can have it removed, changed to 2" tall black text on white background and reapplied where it's centered verticly at average eye level.

I was OCing when I bought my wife's rings and when I picked up mine at our local Kay. The bad thing is it happens to be on a (formerly) Simon property and about my 5th time in was asked to leave and put my handgun in the car.

Haven't been back since but it wasn't Kay Jeweler's fault then. I wonder if it is corporate policy now? The salesmen commented (jokingly) that they better not screw up our rings (again) once he saw my pistol but I assured him it was normal practice for me to carry openly.

Overpriced crap anyway. Wasn't planning on spending my prepping dollars there. Apparently run by sheeple willing to accept smash and grab robberies and dying on their knees as part of a days work.

They think that "rules" make people listen, and that Guns=Crime. Less guns overall must = less crime.

No one can convince them that less guns =/= less crime.

It's also arrogant as all Hell that they think they can extend that to the shared parking lot.

That's what I thought too. None of the other stores in the area make such claims...I wonder if the owners of the plaza make allow the stores to display this sign or if it's a Kay Jewelers policy.

"Premises" they could dictate, I suppose. "Land and parking lot" they might be stretching their authority just a tad.

If you want to buy jewelry in Columbus, go to Max's down at 4th and Washington. Max and his son Steve are "gun guys" as well as jewelry guys, and probably have better merchandise than Kay, anyway.

Arrogant to say the least. Also infuriating. :xmad: Maybe if they start getting targeted by punks and trash they will reconsider that "Please rob us here" stance.

Most definitely will be spreading the word about their policy.:noway:

No, people that would post a sign like this in the first place are impenetrable to logic, and would never be able to think their way to changing it.

Absolutely! Isn't it amazing how it never seems to soak in that if this were a tenable argument, then outlawing any activity would automatically and completely end it within the jurisdiction in which it was outlawed (i.e., there literally would be no crime).

Cathy, Cathy, Cathy. Tsk, tsk. It's so obvious that they are deathly afraid of 5 yr. old girls. That is the reason the sign is so low. Also punk boys in low riders will be at eye level as they drive bye and case the joint.:n00b:
