Here is a video of Columbus police kidnapping a man. It was HIGHLY preventable. The officer just had to look things up.

To credit of the officer, he stopped the process once errors on his and those of the force were evident.

For the innocent, can he still truthfully state he has had no interaction with law enforcement in that county?

Another great reminder to exercise your rights at every opportunity (4A & 5A).

Anyone giving odds on the defense of Qualified Immunity?

Person call police because of suspicious people on his property.

Police find said suspicious people emptying a storage unit into a vehicle. When questioned why on private property, at a late hour, emptying a storage unit, the subjects immediately invoke their 4A and 5A rights.

What do you think happens next in this story?

The owner called, knowing who those people were and why they were there. They weren't suspicious, they were vacating their unit. Even so, it was immediately obvious they were not breaking into multiple units to steal all the goodies.

What objective evidence of theft would there be?
If not theft, what probable cause for arrest did you assume from the facts at hand? They weren't even trespassing...

Wow. As a reserve, I've always worked cautiously before cuffing and stuffing verifying all facts. If in doubt, refer the case to supervision or prosecuting attorney's office. I wouldn't want that to happen to me again and worked hard as heck to shield others against the same thing. I guess I'm a poo-poo head!

A "passerby" called according to the narrator.

What makes it immediately obvious they were vacating the unit?

Kinda like when you pull the "I dont talk to police" during a traffic stop. Pretty much guarantees a ticket. If you dont be a d**k and are polite, and maybe even apologetic, you might just get off with a warning.

Yes you MAY exercise your rights to a ridiculous level. But it may come with a price. (not that this price was warranted)
