Glad my high schoolers are not in public school. Look at what is part of the curriculum for 11th graders -- filth and smut, straight from the same cesspool of "free thinking" that brought us one of the greatest mind and society polluters of our age, Hollywood. This stuff is disgusting. Would you want your teenage daughter or son reading it? The only states that have not adopted the standards are Alaska, Texas, Nebraska and Virginia. Minnesota has adopted only the English standards.

What's with all the porn masquerading as literature nowadays? Case in point this book, and Fifty Shades of Grey. I'm sure there's others, but I find these to be good representatives of the phenomena.

This parroted article from RW blogs cites Toni Morrison's book The Bluest Eye, supposedly in the CC curriculum. Checking the CC website shows that the only Toni Morrison book in the CC curriculum is Song of Solomon - nothing like the above book.

Do you ever check the veracity of your posts? That's a rhetorical question.

Found at the same home address you listed in your link, corestandards.org. Perhaps your version, which is about 100 pages less than the link I am posting, is the newer version. Perhaps it's the final version but to be super douchey and act like The Bluest Eye was never on the reading list is just not true. Maybe it didn't make the final cut, maybe it did, I don't know. The fact it was/is even considered appropriate is bad enough.

"Do I ever check the veracity of my posts?" Watch it, Plinker. You should mind your manners and not insult people in this forum.

I saw this at multiple sources, but only cited one. Are you saying that you are right and all of these people are wrong, including an Alabama State Senator (from just earlier today) and parent groups signing petitions? Why would this be the case if it is not on the list? Or have enough people generated enough disgust that it has been removed?Alabama senator calls for removal of Toni Morrison novel aligned with Common Core | al.com
