Don't law enforcement agencies have/use rubber bullets for similar things ? (less than lethal bullets?)

    Just checking...

I can see this for crowd control, or use in a hostage situation (when you want the good guy to live too) but for me and mine, lead poisoning in a tube is best :rockwoot:

IMPD does not have rubber bullets. We have pepperball guns and SWAT has baton and bean bag rounds.

Not to be callous, but why do I care if the person I have to shoot dies? If the S has HTF to the point that I actually have to pull the trigger I'm not aiming to wound, I'm aiming to stop the threat. And if I use this new "magic bullet" to wound someone and it doesn't incapacitate them to the point that they stop whatever it was they were doing that caused me to shoot them, what is the point?

The article talked about Air Marshalls in particular. I can see that being beneficial so you don't bring down a plane with the round or hurt a bystander.

Columbus PD has bean bags as well. A young kid was depressed or distraught about something a few years ago and held people hostage at a local bank(he was very apologetic to his captives if I recall right). He came charging out the door at the end towards police(suicide by cop I think its called). They shot him with bean bags and incapacitated him.

    The gun was empty...

I think that is a good use of less than lethal ammo.

Odd, the picture shows handgun ammo, yet the article states its for a 12g. Sounds like more of the same, frankly, yet another less-than-lethal 12g round. Maybe its better, maybe its not, but if they want to get onboard with many gov't agencies it better be cheaper.

I did the funeral escort for Sgt Mike Nix, Dallas PD. He was using the issued and mandated "safe" bullets. He empted his weapon in a fire fight and never got anything through the car windshield. The bad guy had a POS junk gun and the gun jammed up after firing one shot. Of course the bad guy had real bullets. I'll bet the "safety" guys that took away the real ammo were eating steaks on the grill with their families on that warm afternoon when Sgt Nix was laid to rest. That beaurocratic crap still upsets me, give the men real bullets.

I don't really get the use for Air Marshalls, at least not in the sense that it could damage the plane. There have been many studies showing that it won't do any real damage to the plane or occupants. It seems like Glaser Safety Slugs would be better. Lethal, but not as much risk of over penetration.

There are tools out there already that are sufficient for less lethal. This talk of less lethal was raised by some members in the current administration for use over seas by US forces. It did not work!
