I noticed that you could place a bushing type compensator for government model 1911. I have read different reports on this. Some say that it improves recoil, and others say it does not and it is just for show.
    Any input would be appreciated

I got one of the 19.95 comps at a gun show years ago & it just looks cool .The recoil is about the same it on or off. There are some bushing comps that are effective (Wichita comes to mind has had good reports)with recoil but are harder on the wallet(you get what you pay for)

Mall ninja only. The bushing comp. does not stay in the gas stream long enough to do any thing for muzzle flip. It also adds weight to the slide and hammers the buffer harder. Looks cool, does nothing....Period.
The comp. that works id attached to the end of the barrel.
