Why do you want to plate them?

I don't know of anybody plating cast bullets at home. Most people either just cast plain lead bullets or they swage jacketed bullets.

It's actually pretty easy to do. Get an appropriate battery, a piece of zinc, and a copper solution and you could plate away.

I've never plated lead bullets, but my doctorate dissertation is on electroplating copper. It's truly not that hard to do on your own.

It isn't hard to do but how thick would the plating be in a reasonable amount of time?

Plating wouldn't change much of anything INRE leading that proper hardness and lubing wouldn't do much better.

It's a nice idea but it doesn't really seem worth the time to me. :dunno:

There are a couple of vids on You Tube where people have built their own plating systems. It is pretty easy in theory and not expensive or difficult to build. It does look to be pretty time consuming in practice. My favorite plated bullet process----order from Rainier or Berry's.

My biggest joy of plated bullets is elimination of smoke from bullet lube and less gun cleaning.

I would agree. Just because I can do it, doesn't mean I would do it. I might set something up in the future just to say I tried it, but it's way down the list of potential projects.

The main reason for me to plate is both indoor ranges I shoot at require you to have plated or jacketed and I can't find either in 40sw right now.
