Cornell uses simulations to find the safest place to hide from zombie apocalypse

That's what I can't figure out about The Walking Dead. They are supposed to be something like 4-5 years into this zombie apocalypse and the zombies haven't rotted away yet.

They must be eating a lot of preservatives or something.

Its season 5 for the show but in real time for the characters its only year two
