Seattle was working on approving one last year, and Vancouver has had one since 2003.

Given that Scott County, Indiana (?) has so many parents in jail or dead that they're looking at having to build an orphanage, as well as a rash of HIV and Hepatitis, supervised use of the drug (I'd liken it to methadone, without the "oversight"), with narcan and someone paid to ensure things don't get out of control, is probably a decent option from a public health viewpoint.

It stink that it'll take tax dollars and grants to make it work, but given that we'll spend a whole bunch more on 911 services and in increased healthcare costs, it's probably money decently spent.
