If I'm not mistaken M855 just 2 months ago could be bought for $500/1K. More than I'm willing to pay but considering the amount of money the government has printed since 2016 that ammo had only inflated by ~$100/case in a 7yr period isn't that bad honestly. Current prices are a reflection of fear and panic, not materials cost being inflated. Heck, a ton of items at the grocery store have went up 80-100% since 2016 and those things are not coming down
