Well I had the septic service come out yesterday and they pumped my tank. The tank looked good, and the drain field was working good. Unfortunately, the pipes were still backed up. I went to Menards and bought a 25' sewer snake and started in on the drain from the toilet. Got about 20' in and hit something solid. I worked on it for over an hour, and still couldn't bust through it. Had to call Rapid Rooter to come out with a camera.
Apparently, a root had bulged the line between the house and septic tank, and a bunch of stuff had got stuck on it. He cleared the line and cleaned it out. He said it wasn't so bad that it needed replaced. So, $600 later, and we have clean pipes and can actually use the toilets again.
