This man's name has not been released; he's only known as the Berlin patient. But we know he's an HIV-positive American in his 40s who has been working in Berlin. In 2006, he was diagnosed with acute leukemia. In an attempt to treat his leukemia AND his HIV, the man's doctor -- Dr. Gero Hütter -- arranged for him to receive a stem cell transplant from a very special donor.

I don't know how you even test for being "cured" of HIV.

The test looks for HIV anti-bodies which will always be present.

He hasn't. He is on some drug cocktail that (so far) has prevented his HIV infection from becoming full-blown AIDS. I guess he discovered it early enough, and can afford the treatments. Being in fantastic physical shape has likely helped him SURVIVE the treatments as well.

according to that Natural Cures [STRIKE]fraud[/STRIKE] guy, AIDS can be cured with colon cleanses.

while the cured guy had a very special set of circumstances, they are looking at it to see if this can be applied to other cases or synthetically duplicated.
