My wife and my mother both applied together on October 23rd, 2009, at the Madison County Sheriff's Office in Anderson. They each received their LTCH in today's mail (November 25th). 4 weeks and 5 days wait. Check to the MadCo Sheriff's Office didn't clear until November 10th, so it may have been delayed a little there. No way to know when it actually got forwarded to the ISP.

Filled out the paperwork, turned over a MO for $75 and $50 cash. Got fingerprinted and out the door. She said that they'd been running around 6-8 weeks, we'll see:D

Remember guys, several years ago when the FBI stepped in to take
control of the background checks and eliminate the State required
checks (without a handgun permit) the State eliminated a few jobs
in that department. The LTCH system is still manually done and
applications stack up on desks real fast. :dunno:

I called today and was told it will probably be another 2 to 3 weeks. They told me to call the money order company to see if it had been cashed yet, but I don't think I kept the receipt. It seems like a renewal would go threw faster but I guess not, the lady said that they are getting in upwards of 900 applications a day...:dunno:
