I recently picked up a G17 and got to looking at the grip

    it got me thinking.....

If someone were to fashion a grip plug/mag well with a space on the back large enough to stick a mag light in to act as a stock, would that be considered a SBR?

Part of me says yes because the flash light WOULD act as a stock
Part of me says no because the flash light WOULD NOT be permanently affixed to the weapon

I'm sure I'll hear alot of "it depends on what mood the ATF is in" comments, but I would like to know what everyones input is

Yes the mag light would serve as a temporary stock. The mag light would just slip into the mag well adapter and slide back out when your done shooting, all with no permanent modification to the pistol

I appreciate the input guys, and it was just an idea :)

I didn't know if anything like that was commercially available or if there would be a market for something like that

You'll be less than impressed with a stock on a pistol. It may look cool, but doesn't really gain you any advantages IMHO.

In terms of regular pistol, got 0 experience. In terms of HK SP89, MP5 clones and the like, adding the stock makes a hell of a differences. Any of those clones are really cool in my personal opinion but really only practical with a stock attached. My :twocents:

That's a totally different ballgame, but I totally agree.

How do you reload when there's a light under the magazine? And a Maglite as a stock would probably be the goofiest thing I've seen in a long time, not to mention the bulky adapter for it.
