I just got in my CZ70 that I ordered this weekend and it appears to never have been issued. It looks perfect and came with a number matching box, test fire target, and shoulder holster. I was wondering how far I should tear it apart to clean all the grease on it. This is my first surplus pistol that hasn't already been cleaned by someone else, so I wasn't sure what all is required for the initial cleaning. Also, does anybody have any tips to disassemble the magazine?

I'd only field strip it down and clean it well (at first). After you're finished and shoot it a bit, decide to break it down further if it acts up.

Blast some pressurized solvent/lube into the moving parts of the frame to get some of the old storage grease out, then ad some of your favorite fresh oil down in there.

And hey, post some pics. Love the cz's, old and not so old.

Is it full of Cosmoline? If so, I'd (at least) field-strip it, remove the grips, and boil it. Let it dry, give it a blast of aerosol brake parts cleaner, and give it a good lube.
