We're getting a Google Data Center here in Ft. Wayne. One news article stated it would create about 30 Jobs. Another article about the building site said the Parking lot and retention pond would require 800 Acres. For 30-40 parking Spaces????

I've been in and out of datacenters for the past 2+ decades. Big ones, small ones, mid size ones, here in Indiana, and other states.

As far as the Google Datacenter, they are building a HUGE datacenter, plus they will need space outside of the building for generators, possiby UPSes, fuel storage, etc. They may even have multiple buildings as well.

Back in 2014, I got to visit the FBI CJIS center in Clarksburg WV, which handles NCIC, NICS and IAFIS along with other data for law enforcement and background checks. During our tour, we got to see the 100,000 sq ft data center where they store all their information. I don't geek out on that kind of stuff often, but that was impressive. I wish they would have let us take pictures.
