The liberals in NY and CA are trying to do away with savings time now so that means Indiana will now insist that changing the clocks is the right thing to do

There will always be competing interests of people on the various parts of a time zone. DST will help some more than others. It is far easier for us to change clocks twice a year than for every business, school, etc. to change their hours to allow the people to have access to the evening daylight hours...

It was awesome to have that daylight shifted to later when we were not sleeping yesterday.

Setting it and forgetting it should be O.K. with everyone.

Leave it shifted during the winter, nobody needs it to get dark earlier in the evening just because it gets cold out.

We'd no longer change the clocks or the schedules, you'd always have the extra evening hour.

    Stop the nonsense.

I would be fine wth that, but it is an accommodation to the morning folks that we move back for 4 months to more evenly distribute the greatly reduced daylight across the time most are active.

Recently read that retail is a big supporter of DST as they sell more when it is lighter later in the day. There is a pretty big group of businesses that benefit from DST besides retail like golf courses, and other entertainment venues.

Corporate lobbies don't care about morning folks preferences, they just want people up and out later burning more fuel and purchasing more stuff. They'd be fine with keeping people up and out later for those 4 cold months as well.

The only reason we ever switched back at all was to make the change incrementally, which has been done. Now, lets finish it because changing everything twice per year for those 4 months is ridiculous.

Then we should make it lighter, later, all the time. Move us from GMT-4 to GMT (with no DST), and we would be light all the way 'til midnight. WooHoo! Retail sales thru the ROOF.

You sold me, let's get it done. If you think the people that despise the clock change make noise, just wait for the primal screams from the morning folks. LOL

But a lot of people want it to be lighter sooner in their day. Maybe so kids aren’t at the bus stop waiting in the dark. Maybe because your workday outside starts early and you’d like the sun to be up when it’s time to start. Or maybe it’s a contrary old mother in law who just likes to complain about things being different from how it was back in the day. (It only lasted a few hours. She eventually shut herself in her room with Fox News blaring)

Society isn’t a monolith. We’re individuals with diverse priorities. A modern solution would be a global time clock with localized schedules. But that’s a giant leap for the world to take. Give it time.

As a morning person and a hater of the time change, I would very much prefer not changing the clocks. Screwing with my internal clock twice a year is much worse than having less daylight in the Winter mornings.

What else could he do to guarantee victory?

I think if he banned pennies, bicycle lanes, and people that say "jif" instead of "gif".... he might be elected emporer for life.
I was possibly saying “jif” before you were born. It didn’t really matter then. I switched to “gif” when the internet decide it cared and to pronounce it wrong.
