The original Green Lantern - a DC Comics mainstay for the past 70 years - will be revealed to be a gay man in next week's issue of "Earth 2."

Not that I read comic books, but why must they do this to our fictional heroes? I would not have a problem with them coming up with a new comic book character that was gay, but to destroy the reputation of a 70 year-old comic book character is ridiculous.
