I read an internet forum tonight entitled "Education Forum", constructed to allow the flow of ideas between educators** (Preschool teachers through college professors) around the world. They have sub-forums dedicated to political conspiracies and such, which is why I was interested.

On one sub-forum about the Kennedy clan literally dying out of power one person was lamenting that the Democratic Party has sold out their principles to keep the political power game afloat. A member wrote that D's and R's want only a certain "gap" between their ideologies, and in their opinion the R's have moved farther to the right-hand side of the scale and the D's have followed - or restated: The D's have become too conservative in keeping pace with the R's and have abandoned their true party ideals.

Not being a member, I couldn't reply to that idea. My feeling, for a good while now, is that both parties have slid left, not right - we are less conservative today than in previous decades.

I agree with the poster above that wrote that the R's will fail to learn from the mistakes that the D's have made and are making. Some of the R's that I have seen try to shoe-horn themselves in with the Tea Party events still express the same ol' tired lines and generally fall back on the same non-statement statements that were successful on people in the past that were too busy buckling down their lives to pay attention to what was going on politically around them.

**I found it ironic that the members of that forum have stated numerous times that individual politics have no place on the forum, nor should any member let politics drive their "academic" and "educational" discussions, and yet it not only seeps through the cracks but pours out of some members who write.

John F. Kennedy would be a Republican if he were alive today. His platform which called for TAX CUTS, a strong national defense and anti communism, was shredded when the 60s radicals took over his party.

If JFK were alive today, he'd likely still be a Democrat, as his father and brothers were to the end. That mindset is typically Democrat these days; Republicans who find themselves distant from their Party's practiced values tend to try the Libertarians.

My hope is after one more election, people wake up. I would like to see the Republicians get the House, Senate, and President. Then see what happens.Anyone want to make any predictions? I think we'll be traveling down the same old road. I dont care for the policys of either party. The AntiChrist wouldnt be any worse that the last 2 we've had.
Bottom line is theres only a couple in office that we can trust,I dont see any standouts, that will be running in the near future.

I can't speak to the upcoming November elections, but I will make an educated guess concerning the 2012 presidential election. Obama will win re-election. It's just a matter of numbers and he has the votes. The likelihood of the gop being able to run a palatable candidate is remote, as things stand right now. Obama has the votes of the black community and a significant number of latino's, as well as the white democrat vote. There just aren't enough gop voters and independents out there. Add in the fact that the republicrats are in total disarray and it's a recipe for victory for Obama.

I think if the Socialist Party (Dems) dies, the Socialist Lite Party (Repubs) will become the new Socialist Party. Different names, same policies. Same goals, different roads of achievement.

You want real change back to the way it was? Convince the PEOPLE to do so.

Fifty percent of the people don't pay anything for the cost of government. Of the fifty who at least pay something, half of them pay very little. Many of the remaining fifty work for the government.

How will we ever convince the people, when over 50% of them gain from socialist policies?

No, that's false. 50% don't pay income tax, no. But they pay a bazillion other taxes. Sales tax, phone tax, gas tax, etc etc etc etc.

You want to convince them? Give them an alternative to a government hand out. Give them a decent paying job, show them others BESIDES government are willing to give them a helping hand. Actually be a neighbor to your neighbors instead of pissing them off all the time. (Not directed at anyone in particular, just saying.) Show them that government is not the source of answers but the source of hardship.

There's a million ways to convince them. Problem is you can't just talk at someone and expect them to believe you. You have to actually WORK at it.
