I wouldn't get anywhere near that guy. Blades scare me.

Come on Escrice...just because the target I am cutting cleanly in this video:

Good job on behalf of the student. It makes me sad that the following line is in almost all stories like this:

"Police are interviewing the student and his roommates, and are talking to prosecutors about whether to file charges."

I agree it is sad. The last line should read, "Police are interviewing the student and his roommates, and are requesting he receive an award for bravery."

    Darn prosecutors....

I have a strategically located machete for personal protection...
How would they feel about that?

I've never had to use it... well... there was this one time involving a psychotic chipmunk. But that's a whole other story.

Seriously though, I do have a machete as part of my defensive weapons armory.
What would happen If I did indeed use it for self defense?
I also have a nice selection of collectible knives most of which are on the LARGE side.
I don't own a sword... yet, but someday I will.

Thats a pretty cool way to take someone out.
As long as you don't have to clean up the mess.

Part of the title of this thread is "in case the anti's get their way"
I, sure this has been discussed before, and I know I am in danger of:horse:
But, if the anti's DO get their way, swords will be illegal too as will sticks.
    Don't believe me?

Yeah, I know it'll get bad enough that even a spoon (Q: "Why a spoon, cousin? Why not an axe?" A: "Because it's DULL, you twit. It'll hurt more.") will be outlawed. England should be an obvious reason why not to disarm the public. There will be an amount of time between outlawing firearms and bladed items. Just gotta stay up-to-date trained on what you are able to defend yourself with, you know, against the bad guy who still has a gun.

If 'they' don't give the guy an award, we should give the guy an award.

"Guglielmi said the man had been arrested on charges such as burglary several times before, and had been released Saturday from a Baltimore County jail."

All we have to do now is wait for the burglar's mother to appear on television and lie through her teeth about how sweet and innocent her son was and how he never hurt a fly.

Ironic that a burglar had his hand cut off during the act of the crime.

He struck once, in self defense. Not like he continually hacked away. The dead guy's sister is an idiot for trying to defend the guy. I'm guessing that if someone was in her place of residence and tried to come after her she'd let the guy have his way with her potentially even killing her. Classy.
