I lived in WI for a decade. No way I was going into the woods during opening weekend. 750k people waiting to shoot the first thing that moved, and looked brownish, and they thought they heard a deer. At least half of them were from out of state and half of those had never waved a gun before. Heck, I didn't even like driving to work through wooded areas then.

I took a young man about 12-13 and his dad rabbit hunting one day. Dogs were bringing rabbit around and we had kid cock his 410 single shot and get ready....the rabbit passed so quick he didn't get a shot and his dad quickly pushed the barrel towards the ground so the kid didn't shoot my beagles as they came thru .....

Grandpa shot my dads beagle like that.
That was long before I was born.

He came home crying and said “oh my god I shot him.” And mom freaked out thinking he shot my dad.
