I recieved a message from someone a while back wasn't sure if it was spam or what. The person asked me if I was a democrat too. Well, except for a very few Democrats most are not exactly for the second amendment, I know, I am from Minnesota before here.
I am a libertarian, but I do not have a lot to choose from so mostly vote republican, as always freedom first.

It's funny how an entire party can make it part of their platform to go against the constitution, and yet still be relevant and accepted by many Americans isn't it? They have become the Socialist party in practice, but still don't like to be called socialists. Why is it that they are ashamed of their true nature and seek to deceive others into believing they are something different? They should rename the party to the Democratic Socialist party IMO.

The other thing I noticed is this Joe Donnolly, he votes pro second amendment but almost everything else is right along Nancy Polosy.

It ensures that they get the votes of single issue voters. Lots of gun owners will support a candidate who votes pro gun, even if they have a lousy record on everything else. Single issue voters are the bane of a free society.

Not true. I worked with many democrats that were pro-gun and it always caught me off guard when it was mentioned that dem's were anti-gun. Later I did find out that higher office democrats were anti-gun.

    1. This is the General Firearms Forum... not Political Discussion Forum

    2. The politicking on this site is soooo off the charts its shocking.
(whether this is good or bad is debatable)

Rank and file members of political parties rarely look anything like those who hold office.

Don't make the mistake of assuming all Democrats are Pelosis, and don't make the mistake of assuming all Republicans are Santorums.

the democrats i run into that support the 2A have at least one asterisk on the end of their sentence.

ie. I support people defending their homes....but

    1) I think guns should be registered
    2) gun shows should be outlawed
    3) I don't support carrying one in public

    etc, etc

My mom and dad were life long democrats. They taught me such things as you should be ashamed to take hand-outs, pride in being American, typical what they would later consider right winged stuff.

One day, back when AlGore was running for president, my mom and I were debating some political issue when she looked at me and asked: when did you become such a right winger? I told her: you and dad taught me.

Single issue voters are the bane of a free society.

I would say that those who are on one side of an issue only because "their" party supports it are much worse. At least single-issue voters have an agenda and vote for those who agree with it.

Anyway, these threads belong in the General Political forum so that they can get the attention they deserve ;). Have fun in there, I know I won't.

Meh....it was anticlimactic. I just got "the look". And then a comment; something to the effect "well, we certainly didn't raise you to be a republican". I tried to explain, as I had on several occasions, that the democrats she used to vote for, don't exist anymore.

    Somewhere over the rainbow
SO should most of the Republicans
This. We wouldn't have all these infringements people complain about (not just 2nd A) if not for Republican acquiescence or even active support.

Mitt belongs to which party, please remind me?

Keep flogging the Dems if you will. Don't worry about the Republicans, of course they will protect your rights, because, er, well just because.

A pols position on 2A gives me a good idea on how they view freedom and govt in general. I've rarely if ever been proven wrong on this.

I don't think its purely a political party thing, but more regional ideology BS. Take for instance where most of the anti gun ideas come from> the northeast.

I know many friends that are democrat supporters til they are blue in the face about it, yet love their guns.
