None of y’alls academic arguments or explanations really matter, the people suggesting this kind of nonsense need to be labeled as enemies of our country and dealt with accordingly, no matter what they call themselves or their ideology.
No. While his policies certainly got the ball rolling, he had the betterment of the country at heart, whereas this latest breed only wants to destroy everything that has ever been. That's a legitimate position, relying on perception and personal ethics, rather than fictitious quotes.
Now, out of curiosity, what do you think of FDR's place in American history? Was he an "enemy of the people"?

Yeah, I lived with the UK's National Health Service for most of my life. I'd prefer to never have to go through that system again.
As far as the Dem's vying to take on Trump in 2020 I hope that they are all as honest about their positions as they can be.

The basic systems of government were covered in basic government class, which every high school student had to pass to graduate high school.
Without this basic knowledge, there is no way to change your mind, not that you would change your views even with correct information...
If you can't tell the difference between political parties & systems of government, no one can help you.
It's been quite a while since I sat in high school government class. I don't remember dwelling on communism in that class, but I must admit I have slept since then. Maybe you can help me out by listing the tenets of communism and how they are different from the current wish list of the rising stars of the Democrat party. I'm betting you'll find a lot of similarities.
All I've got so far is "hurr-durr, socialism ain't communism." Fine. Ice milk ain't ice cream, either, but it's close. What's the functional difference between the two? I've always heard that the end goal of socialism is communism, so any distinction may not be much of a difference.
Socialism for one, can work within the framework of an existing government. Communism can not, as it requires all means of production to be in the hands of the proletariat; which while meaning "worker," is actually government in practice.
And neither work very well when dealing with human beings. Never have, and probably never will. All it takes is a small handful of people that aren't satisfied with their station in life and the whole thing goes down the tubes.
Outside of critical care (i.e. you are taken to hospital with a life threatening condition) it was a miserable system. I much prefer the healthcare I have here. What? You're saying socialized medicine isn't utopia?? But we've been told that it will save us all!

You believe what you want, I’ll believe what I want.Do you honestly think that? FDR despite the face he put on for the public, I always believed relished the power of the presidency, and wanted to expand it well beyond where it was.
Yep. Two people that I always want happy and well rested are my doctor and my pilot.
Oh, you'll get no argument from me that there are "socialist" programs in our system now.I'll give you communism, but not socialism. If what you say is true, concerning socialism, there would be no reason for governments to ever collect taxes, except for military purposes; which some would still argue is a form of socialism. I assume that you can think of things outside of the military that your taxes are well spent?
Paul, however, is scheduled for outpatient surgery at a private hospital, later reports clarified. He will be going to Shouldice Hospital, which claims to be a world leader in “non-mesh hernia repair,” Bloomberg reports.

“This is a private, world-renowned hospital separate from any system and people come from around the world to pay cash for their services,” Paul spokeswoman Kelsey Cooper told Bloomberg.
