A coworker approached me and asked if there were any way for his trigger pull to be modified on his derringer .38. I am personally not familiar with derringers so I thought I would ask here

Yes, it can be modified. Any professional gunsmith can do it.

The best way for a owner to smooth the trigger in any firearm is to dry fire lots and lots. It is best to use a snap cap to prevent the firing pin from breaking.

I am not going to publish on the web how to take apart and modify any trigger.

If you are comfortable taking it apart, look at the internals and see where there are any wear marks. Get a nice fine polish compound and go to town. Watch out for the sear or where it rests. If there are any burrs see where they are coming from and address. Dont take any drastic filing or spring adjustments. It should smooth out alot
