Just wondering how many of our members are employed or have the need to visitthe Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) center located inLawrence. In their internal employeeswebsite, that provides answers to employee question (Ask Edna), there have beenseveral questions related to the ability of employees and visitors to havetheir legally carries firearms in their locked cars in the parking lot. According to "Edna", the GSA whichowns the building says that federal law prohibits the possession of firearms onany Federal property. However, afterreading the following, I believe that they are wrong. Any folks want to chime in. Also, the only place that is posted asprohibiting firearms is on the doors of the facility itself.

    GunControl Act Of 1968, (P. L. 90-618 As Amended, Principally By P.L. 99-3081)

Title 18,Chapter 44, Sec. 930 (a) Possession of firearms and dangerous weapons inFederal facilities, states:

"Except as provided in subsection (d), whoever knowingly possesses or causes to bepresent a firearm or other dangerous weapon in a Federal facility (other than aFederal court facility), or attempts to do so, shall be fined under this titleor imprisoned not more than 1 year, or both."

Additionally,(g) (1) states, The term "Federal facility" means a building or partthereof owned or leased by the Federal Government, where Federal employees areregularly present for the purpose of performing their official duties.:dunno:
