For all those out there that have been having issues with Directv since yesterday afternoon, I will pass on a little info. One of Dirtectv's satellites (Directv 10) failed at approximately 1:55 est yesterday. This satellite carried several national HD channel feeds as well as Ditect Cinema programming. This satellite had know issues before it failed completely yesterday.
Directv has been scrambling since then to move these feeds to other satellites. You may have noticed anomalies such as no signal, technical difficulties screens, and in dome cases the wrong programming on some channels.
The good news is Directv has a new satellite in place and is moving programming to that satellite and other satellites in orbit as we speak. We will have to see what the future ramifications are. The new satellite (Directv14) likely was not launched to be a replacement for the 8 year old Directv 10. More than likely it was supposed to carry new programming in HD format.
