At my club's Sunday afternoon workout, which was not the hill today, but a tabata sandwhiched between two Ross circuits (ugh) I learned from a co-participant that one should not eat polar bear liver as it contains toxic amounts of vitamin A.

I told him I'd Google that, what do you know he's right!!

HowStuffWorks "Will I die if I eat polar bear liver?"

So, if you are lost in the Artic and need to eat a polar bear, eschew the liver. Who knew?:dunno:

I remember reading a story about an Antarctic expedition in which the party had to resort to eating their dogs.
One member of the party didn't like the tough meat and only ate the livers and he ended up dead from vitamin A poisoning.
So it isn't just polar bears.

If you don't eat, why do you need to eschew it? Do you eschew, then espit?

Now, could you eat a bit of it, just as a delicacy, without a fatal dose? I wonder what it would taste like. Not like I have polar bears infesting my yard, but with the inverse of global warming going on, you never know.
