Do you buy 10 round mags?

Just wondering if anyone else here buys 10 rounds mags for their semi automatics where the standard capacity is 15 or more rounds. I buy them if they are cheap. Usually at the range I don't load more than 10 rounds anyways

If they were cheap sure. But for the same price I can buy standard capacity magazines. Those hold 10 just as easy as 15.

I only have 10 rounders for my .40 P99 purchased during the Clinton AWB. Never saw a reason to spend money on the 11 or 12 round magazines. It was my first new handgun a gift from my wife. The gun, caliber and magazines are now a reminder of the past.

I have many 30 rounders and a few 20 rounders and 1 10 round mag. I almost always use the 10 round mag. I usually only load 5 rounds at a time anyway. And the longer mags are too tall to fit under the bipod. I wish the 10 round mags were 1/3 the price of the 30 rounders. Edit-I just realized this is in the handgun forum...Not the long gun forum. The principle still applies though.

8, 14, for my current pistols,

20, and 30, for my rifle .....

I have a few limited capacity magazines for pistols because they are cheap and I occasionally travel to magazine limited states.

For ARs I have a few 10 and 5 round magazines because they sit more flush so when I am shooting prone long range I can get lower.

All the rest I have are standard capacity magazines.

I have a few 10 round mags for the Varmint AR. They work better off the BiPod for me.

I have a couple 10 rounders for use when shooting prone at Revere's Riders events. Otherwise, it's 30 rounders all the way.

Wait: I just saw that this was in the Handgun forum. Why would you want reduced capacity handgun magazines???

I have a handful of 10 round mags that came with various guns I've bought over the years. They tend to stay in the spare mag box unused. If I ever need to travel to a capacity challenged state, I'll take those along, but otherwise they'll stay unused. I guess I could run them at the range since I tend to shoot in 10 round strings anyway.

Why waste your hard earned money, use standard capacity mags on the range and load the with only ten rounds if you want.

For the AR my five round mag is plumb wore out. Switched over to a twenty rounder I had on hand. All the thirty rounders sit in a box brand new. Too long and get in the way. I hand load each round and put a pill where I intend to put it. No spraying anything.

On the other hand my pistols are Glocks and they get stuffed full up. Loading 9mm for $3.00 a box right now. Spray away!

Depends how cheap. I've never found 10 rders cheap enough to buy. I look at it like well for $5 more I can buy a full cap mag

I use 10-rounders for my 300 Blackout, which is primarily a hunting rifle.

As another member posted , I have bought 10 rd mags if price is right , or if availability of Hi-caps is naught. Better to have something rather than nothing. JMO

For those of you who say you use the 10 rounders in states that require it, is your carry permit good in those states? I have never checked, but I would assume that states liberal enough to restrict mag capacity aren't real good about carry reciprocity. Could be totally wrong though.

10 rd mags for the 3rd Gen S&W's I own cost the same as regular mags on ebay, Gb and other sights I check for cheap mags. I probably have at least 20 14 rd or 15 rd mags for my 5900 series pistols.

I only go down in capacity if the standard mags are 10 rounds. Otherwise no. The way I would handle going to a restricted state is bringing along a revolver or two. IMHO, if you're forced to carry less ammo, they might as well be heavy hitters.

I bought one when Feinstein was trying do her thing, just in case it did not have a grandfather clause. I figured if I waited until it was likely to or did pass I would not be able to get one.

I don't generally buy 10rd mags, but I have quite a few. Most came with guns purchased and got thrown in a box. I recently bought two 10rd mags for an FN Forty-Nine, but it's a ban era gun and 10rd mags are all I've ever seen for that model. Don't think it existed before the ban and was probably already discontinued by the time the ban expired. I've also bought quite a few 10rd mags for the Beretta .40 Cougar. I came across a great deal on the pistols and bought five of them so I felt I needed a bunch of magazines in a hurry and 10rders were what I could find. Normal capacity is only 11 anyway, so it didn't feel too weird to settle for 10's. Same thing with the 3rd gen Smith .40's,......they only come standard with 11rd. Sticking a 10rd 9mm mag into a pistol that 'should' hold 15 or so bugs the hell out of me tho.
