I was here today and I, a white European by ancestry, stood next to two black women as we read the Gettysburg Address and Lincoln's Second Inaugural Address.

This contemporary moment framed in the shrine to its historic origin was incredibly moving.

When we were at Ford's Theater a few years back, the building across the street (where the carried Lincoln to) was being remodeled. By Davis Construction.

The actual bed lincoln died in is in Chicago. A replica is in the houseacross from fords theater.
The chair he was shot in, is in henry ford museum in michigan.
The national archives had the pistol I think and rotates it out at fords theater with his top hat and coat.

The Zakia swamp that Booth rode through to Dr Mudds home, still runs through my older sisters farm. Folks have tried to take possession of it, generally they leave their boots behind in the quagmire.

Met and talked to Greg Pence as well as several other congressmen. Got a pic with Pence. they had a 6' gap installed otherwise he would have posed closer.
