Pretty cool. I wonder how much epa mandated emissions equipment will be on there. I'll stick with my 6.7, but it will be interesting to see how much power will be squeezed out of a 3.0.

You are right my fault. It will be the 3.0 v6, I don't know why I said Cummins. brainfart I guess lol. Still it has been doing great in the Cherokee and Wrangler overseas.

I'm a big fan of Diesel engines....such a big fan that I used to drive a 1/2 ton Chevy and a 1/2 ton GMC as shop trucks at the dealership I worked at in the '90s.

I don't know how long they were available, but I know that at least in '83-'86, GM sold 1/2 ton diesels with the 6.2L Detroit Diesel, maybe longer.

I'll take a close look at this truck when it comes out, but I'm a GM guy at heart.

My brother had a '92 K1500 with the 6.2L in it.

Putting a diesel in a 1/2 ton truck is nothing "new to the industry", it's only a revival to the industry.

Exactly. The trucks I used to drive with the 6.2L, with a light load would regularly get high 20s to almost 30 mpg on the highway- and that was pretty impressive back then.

My boss had an '84 GMC Sierra 1500 6.2L that had 295,000 miles on it when he passed, and the heads and pan had never been off it, though it was on its third injection pump and probably 4th set of glow plugs.

I am not saying it is new, just not done anymore. The s10/s15's got a diesel back in the day as well, although rare. I have been wanting a half ton Chevy with a little diesel any it for a while. I don't haul anything so no need for anything huge.If I had the backing I would start doing swaps into half tons. Personally I like the Cummins, but I like Chevy better than Dodge. But i would rather drive a Dodge than a Ford lmao.

Yea lol. What I think they mean though is a light duty strictly for light duty. The 6.2 was put in 3/4 and 1 tons as well. I have thought about getting an ole 6.2 and putting it in an s10 or something light. Might see mid 30's.

It is still a Dodge and I will never own a Dodge. From talking with people I know the only reason they buy a Dodge is for the Cummins. Bodies and transmissions in those trucks suck.

The S-10s had itty-bitty Isuzu diesels in them.

If Cummins could produce a motor that only weighed a half ton, they would be putting them in 1/2 ton trucks:D
