    seems to me like it might be more trouble than it is worth unless you are getting a really good deal. Just find somebody in state to make a good trade with.

    Wow, tuff situation. You both have to be on an honor system. Make
    sure you check out all or any feedback on your seller. You can always
    communicate with the sellers FFL and rely on his keen or experienced
    eye.

    Good Luck...there is a lot of us that have been in the same situation.

    How did you get into this trade situation? Was it through a message board, off-site gun broker or auction arms contact, whats going on? Yea, you definitely have to go through an FFL holder to get your gun sent off to him and to receive your gun in a hand gun deal. To not get ripped off through an internet deal I guess you just have to rely on the feedback system of however you got into this deal. If there is no real accountability system I just could not do it... good luck.

    Four things for a online out of state trade, which ive had pretty good luck with before;

    Excellent feedback (They must have it)
    Good communication (Phone number, answers all questions promptly and honestly.)
    Isnt too eager to trade, if they are then dump the deal. (Red flag)
    FFL to FFL only.

    Ive had good luck with these anyway.

    If it were ME... I'd not do an interstate trade.

    Too many variables.

    Unless, of course, one or the other of you were to drive to the others place. That way, you could verify that one gun would be shipped and that one could be transferred then & there.

    Situations like these I'm reminded of a phrase that was drummed into my head when I was younger: "When in doubt...don't."

    Here are the details. I have a handgun listed on the Ruger forum FS/FT. I was pm'd about doing a trade. The person has 1 post and has exactly what I'm looking for. No pics yet or his FFL info.

    Seems legit and not suspicious at all. I can't see any possible way for that to backfire on you.

    If you are doing a out of state trade, that means it has to be an FFL transfer on both ends, if he is a crook, he's not a good one because he has to show photo ID and do a background check to complete the transaction
