Never underestimate the power of printing money. I would bet against that 4 month target because all of our problems can be hidden by money printing.

That is until it can't be hidden any longer. I'd say the dollar sell off is closer to 4 years away. First we will see Japan, then Europe then us. It will be dominoes and we will not be th efirst to go down. We will be the last but we will go down without question.

I have seen many doom and gloom reports that were wrong.
However, the fed is running out strings to pull.
The recovery is the worst ever.
It looks like our only option now is war and we have been at war for over a decade.

I don't know if it will be 4 years, 4 months or 4 days.... But I don't think Japan and Europe will be first. Our dollar is secure until the rest of the world grows some balls and rejects it and sells off their $ reserves.

The problem is that so many of them have invested so much in us, they are all reluctant to take severe losses and run.

Eventually it will happen though. That I'm pretty sure of... and when it happens, it will be quick and violent. Germany has already asked for their gold and Iran, Japan and Russia are trying to trade oil for currencies other than the US dollar.

The question is what will be the fallout locally when the world rejects the US dollar?

I assume our market will flood with it... We will see a spike in local money supplies and everything will seem fine at first, until the bottom falls out hard and the American people lose faith.

Once that happens... it will be total collapse, followed by utter confusion and then massive anger and violence. Our divided nation will fall apart until a new nation and new currency is born to unite us all to start the rebuilding process.

Luckily we have invested a lot of money in infrastructure, so I assume the rebuilding process won't be as bad as I fear.

Even if another 9/11 happened, I don't think the population would be ready for another war this time around. Many, if not most die hard war supporters ten years ago are tired of it now, including myself.

Well here is to hoping 'the people' learned their lesson. yea right.

Government is not reason. It is not eloquence.
Government is force; like fire it will consume everything it touches.

Patriotism leads to nationalism, nationalism leads to collectivism, and collectivism leads to the dark side.

We will go last exactly because all the others hold the dollar. And those dollars will flood back here and inundate us. Those trillions held offshore will look to buy anything they can with dollars but first as the least dirty shirt in the laundry people will be fleeing Japan, then Europe looking for anything or anywhere to preserve capital.

Just like during the last crisis in 2008 the dollar soared as money flooded into the US seeking safety of principal. The next time it happens, and it will, the money will come here and die.

When the dollar dies and there is no way it cannot, (If anyone believes we can get out of the debt trap we are already in they simply ignore the math) all sorts of bad things will happen. When currencies die war is often the conclusion.

Poptab, I am trying to figure out what you mean---"Patriotism leads to............"
Are you saying we become a facist ruled socialist state due to to patriotism? I'll have to think on this a bit.

Maybe I do not understand the relationships.

BTW, the Gearge Washington quote is a nice touch
