Anyone here have/had double vision, and what did you do about it? No, I don't mean the alcohol related type. I've had it for six months now, waiting as the optho guy says, to "see if it corrects itself". It hasn't and it's a P I T A.

Get yourself to a better doctor. Double vision is a potential symptom of thing a lot more serious than "don't worry about it".

Do yourself a favor. Get your GP to recommend a specialist.

Is it all the time or mainly when you get fatigued? Any other neuro symptoms? I agree with the above, ask the doc "let's assume it doesn't get better, what do you think it could be and what is the next step to find out"?

    How old are you?

I have double vision because my eyes don't work together right (I'm slightly crosseyed). I have prisms in my eyeglass lenses, and that fixes it. But agreed, it could be a lot of (more serious) things.

Thanks Guys. I appreciate the replies and info. To answer some questions, I am fairly active at 81 y o. I was hospitalized immediately when the issue first occurred. They kept me 3 days. They did cat scan, MRI, dopplers, lab work. I've been told it was caused by stroke, mild stroke, T.I.A., diabetes. It has become a case where if you ask four people you get six answers, all guesses. On release from the hosp I was referred to an ophthalmologist. He's the one who suggested we wait and see rather than rush into anything surgical. After a few visits he suggested that glasses might be the answer. We tried three new prescriptions to no avail. I recently had a conference with my family guy and he has connected me with another ophthalmologist who is familiar with and expert in my type of problem. We shall see.
