Dr. Joyce Malcom published "To Keep and Bear Arms: The Origins of an Anglo-American Right" in 1994. It is considered the seminal work on the English Bill of Rights and its Right to Bear Arms provision, from which our Bill of Rights' 2nd Amendment was (in major part) derived. SCOTUS justices have quoted portions of her book. Although it's a scholarly work, it's easily comprehensible by those with a H.S. Grad 12th Grade literacy. I have a copy of it and it's well worth reading. The other major motive for the 2nd Amendment was the Boston Massacre on March 5th, 1770, followed by the Battles of Lexington and Concord five years later on April 19th, 1775.

Her book is readily available in paperback. Hardcover versions are more difficult to find and typically much more expensive.

Tom Grieve has two YouTube interviews with Dr. Malcom well worth watching. The first from about a month ago and the second just posted.
