    Thinking about pulling the trigger on another Ruger MKII 22. But I will need to have it drilled and tapped to have scope rail added. Located in Lafayette. Looking for suggestions.

    Thanks for looking.

    I am NOT, a Ruger xpert, yet, anyway, but my MkI, bought in 1977, is NOT drilled and tapped.
    My 22/45, bought a few years ago, is .....
    so it MIGHT depend on what year it was made .....

    MK 2 are not drilled...I have one with a 10" bull barrel that I ended up putting an after market "No Drill" rail on...it has done well...1/2" @ 25yd groups are easy with it...don't remember manufacturer could check if you are interested....requires the removal of the rear sight.

    Aren't they already drilled and tapped? Mine is.

    Some were.

    Yes.

    MK3 is drilled, MK2 im not sure about, MK 1 is not drilled.

    If it were me I would buy one thats already drilled and tapped:twocents:

    I don't buy MKIIIs. Don't want the lawyer crap. I only buy MKIIs. ;)The 2 specific pistols that I'm looking at are MKII. Because of my old eyes, I need a rail that I can put a red dot or a scope on.

    MK 2 are not drilled.

    Actually, some of them were. In the last year of MKIIs, some were drilled and tapped. I stole this rare, unfired, drilled and tapped model on GB a few months ago;

    Thanks for looking and replying, but I'm still looking for someone who can do this, in case I pick up one of these in the next few days. :ingo:

    You might PM AllenM. He is in Avon, but does some fine gunsmithing work. Check him out in the Diamond Collision subforum.

    Recently acquired the MKII that I needed the rail added to;

    A couple local shops recommended Stu Grell for the job. Picked it up yesterday. Had him do the scope rail and install a Volquartsen trigger. He did an excellent job. His address is listed as Attica, but is actually 6 miles wast of West Point. Easy to find. Phone 765-572-2207.
