Hi everybody. I'm asking because I trust you all more than I trust other random searches online. What kind of stone do you use to redo your gravel driveway? #53? #8? Driveway is looking rough, potholes and such, I was thinking three inches on top would smooth things out and have things looking nice. Not sure when the last time any stone was added. Any advice is welcome! Besides paving it

    .
53 stone packs best, but contains a lot of dust that may track all over your house for awhile. There's also a lot of small stone, so durability is lower.

8 is clean and pretty, will last longer, but doesn't pack worth a damn.

I use 73's. Smaller largest stone size. Easier on ankles if you spend any time walking on it.
Packs down like concrete and if you keep a crown on the drive so water will run off, your puddles and holes should be longer coming back. They'll eventually be back, but it will take longer.

    ^^^ that about covers it.

Are you planning on using a roller or anything to compact it, or just lay it out and be done?
