This coming Friday Applied Ballistics will be hosting another Dueling Tree for charity as well as an FNRA Wall of Guns drawing!

The dueling tree competition will be similar to those in the past (look for the rules in another post below) with the entry fee being $15 for early registration (by phone or in person at the store) and $20 at the store the day of the competition. The winner will have their choice of a Ruger 10/22 or a case (1000 rounds) of Midwest Ammunition 115gr 9mm! (must be 18 to receive the 10/22 and able to pass a background check, must be 21 to receive the 9mm ammunition). The runner up will receive a free one month membership to Applied Ballistcs! That's free range time through the 9th of December!

A portion of the proceeds of the dueling tree will be donated to the local Friends of the NRA.

The same day we will be hosting the FNRA on site for a Wall of Guns Raffle! Tickets for the raffle are $20 and a gun will be given away for every 50 tickets sold. If not enough tickets are sold for an additional drawing the remaining tickets will still be drawn and the winner will receive 50% of the ticket proceeds (standard 50/50). For example if we sell 230 tickets we will draw for four gun giveaways and the last 30 tickets sold will be drawn for a 50/50 where the winner will receive $300 cash or in store credit.

Also of interest, if you win a drawing for a gun but don't want any of the guns being given away, you may apply $500 toward the purchase of any other firearm in the store!

But wait, there's more. Through this Tuesday customers will receive a free ticket into our in store drawing for every $25 spent. This drawing will be for a free entry into the Wall of Guns, or a free entry into the dueling tree competition, or a variety of other prizes like range time, ammo, shirts, hats, etc. If you buy a $500 gun, you are entered 20 times!

So come out and compete or buy raffle tickets for a great cause and the chance to win a variety of guns and other great prizes!

    • Dueling Tree Info

The tree will be at 10 yards and shooters will go head to head on the tree. Last man standing after a duel elimination bracket will take home a free Ruger 10/22 or a 1000 round case of 9mm 115gr ammo!

The runner up will receive a free one month trial membership, which is one month of free range time!

To enter you must have, or rent, a handgun in a standard handgun caliber (no rifle cartridges, velocity limited to 1600fps). We recommend a minimum caliber of 9mm and when shooting 9mm we have found that heavier (147gr) ammunition moves the plates more reliably. Full rules below.

      Dueling Tree Rules

Cost is $15 for pre-registration and $20 for registration on the 10th.

Phone registrations are accepted (call 765-838-0700 during business hours)

Participant must be 18 years of ago or older and able to pass a background check to receive the 10/22 or must be 21 years of age or older to receive the 9mm ammunition

Participants must be on site by 6:30pm to facilitate scheduling of the matches

      Competition will begin at 7:00pm

Standard double elimination tournament, each participant must lose twice to be disqualified

Handgun may be provided by the participant or rented from Applied Ballistics (if using a rental gun you must use ammunition purchased from Applied Ballsitics)

Standard straight wall pistol caliber handguns are permitted

      No necked cartridges

      No cartridges that exceed 1600fps

      No optics (including laser sights)

No compensators, brakes, ported barrels, or suppressors

Holsters and magazine carriers are not required but are permitted

Applied Ballistics staff will officiate all matches

      All range safety rules apply

Participants can be disqualified for unsafe practices at the discretion of Applied Ballistics staff

Participants begin at the low ready with hands on their handgun and touching the table of their lane

Participants may begin each match with up to 8 rounds of ammunition in the handgun with one spare reload of 8 additional rounds (16 rounds total) or they may begin with 6 rounds in the gun with two spare reloads of 6 rounds each (18 rounds total) at the participant’s discretion

All participants will have unloaded firearms at all times unless they are on the firing line and have been given the command to “load and make ready”

Prior to beginning the match staff will call “line ready”

If a participant is not ready when “line ready” is called it is the responsibility of the participant to safely make the staff aware that they need additional time

Staff will give the command “fire” to begin the match

There are no alibis, if the participant experiences a malfunction they can either clear it safely and continue or concede the match

The match is concluded when one side of the dueling tree is completely cleared or both shooters are out of ammunition

The match is over when it is called by staff

Staff will call either “winner left” or “winner right” to designate the end of the match

There will be no appeals, the staff member officiating the match has final say regarding the outcome

If the winning participant cannot legally receive the prize for any reason they forfeit any right to winnings

All participants accept that shooting steel targets at close range poses an enhanced risk of bullet fragments ricocheting and contacting anyone in the shooting bay

Eye and ear protection is required at all times during the competition for anyone in the shooting bay
