    Cummins for the win.
We actually ran a good majority of the 5.9's. I think our ratio was four 5.9's to two 6.6 DirtyMax's. No Fords because the majority of used options were 6.0's or 6.4's, and this coming from a Ford guy, I wouldn't want to run either of those hauling and running up to 20 hours a day either

Man, the spool on those 5.9's are so satisfying

What I have isn't anywhere near that big and right now it is a flat bed. Not sure I would be comfortable with that behind me. :):

    Trailer weighs about 6500lb.

A trip to the scale verified I was within all my weight limits (tow rating, GVWR, GCWR, RAWRR) and the truck pulled it just fine at 65mph...but it was a solid 3k RPM just going 65 on perfectly level ground and any hills got it up into the low-mid 4s. No problem with the venerable 3.6L, just tapped out on power with that trailer so I traded for a 5.3L Silverado 1500.

The baby DMax likely wouldn't have had any issues.

IMO the new turbo 2.7L four-banger offered in the 2019 Silverado is the PERFECT engine for the Colorado...

Does Dodge put a diesel in a small pickup?

They used to have the 3.0L “EcoDiesel”...which is not a Cummins in the 1500. It is not currently available, but should be coming back soon.

Nissan installs a V8 Cummins in the Titan, but from what I hear, it is not nearly so loved as their inline 6s.

Also, be aware that diesel trucks typically wear out the front ball joints faster, since diesel engines are quite a bit heavier than their gas counter-parts.
