Like the title says, Christmas came early to my house. My girlfriend bought me a Viridian laser/flashlight combo with a Tacloc holster for my Ruger SR9c for Christmas, then she came across a NIB Glock 29 and bought it on the spot because she knew I'd been looking for one for quite some time. Then to top things off she was so excited about giving it to me that we didn't wait until Christmas to exchange gifts. I don't think I've ever had a Christmas this good!

We had an exciting trip to the range yesterday too. I sighted in the laser, which is surprisingly bright by the way, and had some fun with the 9mm. Then I put 20 rounds through the Glock 29 just to get a feel for it. 10mm ammo where I'm at sells for upwards of $1.00 per round when you can find it so one 20 round box was all I took to the range. I'll do a more detailed review of the two items once I get some more range time with them.

Ah! The Glock 29. It's the closest thing to a death ray we have in current handguns! Get yourself some hot loads and join the club.

I've been thinking about something from Double Tap or Underwood but I'm not sure about bullet weight or specific type (they have several types of HP). Do you have any suggestions?

    marry that girl!

    I will. She's great.

I prefer 180 grain for self defense. The only type of bullet I could find in stock were the XTP.

On a serious note, congrats on your new gun. I'd love to see some pics (of the 29, not the above comment or future wife, no offense).

Congrats! I have one of the very first G29s made, I was so excited when it came out. I have EDCed it ever since. I've tried other guns from time to time but keep coming back to it. I probably have 8-10k rounds through it now.

Underwood is great as is Buffalo Bore. I'm carrying Winchester Silvertips in mine. I avoid Doubletap because of their shady business practices and outright lying about their velocities. You can read more about it here:

That's good information to have. If they've done it in the past they might do it again, and with ammo demands as high as they are it seems more likely that they would cut corners in my opinion. I'm not going to rule out ever buying ammo from them but I'll keep this in mind when I'm shopping for a carry load.
