Pennsylvania Secretary of Public
welfare has put out a slide showing how the state’s
assistance programs have become a very real
disincentive:
The single mom is better off earning gross
income of $29,000 with $57,327 in net income
and benefits [paid] than to earn gross income
of $69,000 with net income and benefits of
$57,045.
As Dr. Ralph Reiland, the Professor of Free Enterprise at
Robert Morris University notes, “Why then go to school
or work harder when the net result is no more
money… and less leisure.” So we’ve come to this in
our spending; we spend so much on welfare that it is
economically illogical not to remain on “The dole” just as
it is economically illogical to find a better paying job. You
cannot make this stuff up… nor should anyone, and
we’ve come to this. How sad is that?

Have a link to the article about this, or the presentation itself?

Is it this one?
http://www.aei.org/files/2012/07/11/-alexander-presentation_10063532278.pdf

This does seem to be the presentation.
It even has the text:
"The single mom is better off earning
gross income of $29,000 with
$57,327 in net income & benefits
than to earn gross income of
$69,000 with net income & benefits
of $57,045."
