Are there specific fighting techniques to avoid if using a liner lock type knife? I know about battoning and using a knife in the woods but am not familiar with why this type of folder is bad for self defense. It's not like I plan to strike at anyone using the spine. What little martial arts "knife as a defensive use only" weapon training I've had is to hold the sharp edge out with your lead hand, tip pointed down towards the elbow.

I carry Spyderco Emerson wave knives most of the time. I do swap out for other lock types when feeling fancy.

I'm a recent convert to ZT after buying $40 knives for edc. Mine's made of Elmax. Was nervous I spent to much on a knife. But, once I first opened it and put it in my pocket, it would never be left at thome (like the others)
