Well, the family and I rented a pontoon on Geist over Memorial Day, we were on the water from 10:30AM-5:30PM. Had a great time, kids went swimming, wife got to lay out and get some sun, I went fishing and we all had fun.

Being that it was a holiday weekend and beautiful weather seemed to equal everyone with a boat was out, it was a very busy day out on the open sections of water. I kept finding myself seeking refuge in the coves to get away from some of the bigger wakes that we just tossing that pontoon around. I was instantly recognizing the benefit of the added balance a Tri-toon would offer when fielding the wakes from some of the bigger badder boats out there.

We rented a 20' Sylvan Mirage 820, seems all of the Geist Marina rental pontoons are fitted with 50hp Merc. 4 stroke outboards. The motor didn't use much fuel in about 7 hours, I think my fuel bill was $13.90 for 7 hours, and that's paying marina refueling station prices, which were around $3.50/gal or so.

Overall, we had a great time and are looking forward to going out there again. However, when comparing all of the costs associated with year-round ownership (storage, maintenance, insurance, boat slip, etc.) Renting may be the way to go unless we start wanting to go every week or something like that.
