Where is an electronics recycling place near Plainfield? I need to get rid of an old TV and a broken DVD player and would like to keep them out of the trash.

    Thanks in advance!

Put it on the curb and in the free section on craigslist put CURB ALERT FREE TV/ELECTRONICS and the address... It should vanish (scrappers) pretty quick.

Ok, I'll take them to the goodwill. I just didn't want to take them a bunch of junk. That didn't sound like a nice thing to do. If they don't mind if it works or not, then that would be the easiest thing for me to do.

Can you hold onto it for a while? Several organizations do electronics recycling, but usually not in the winter.

This place seems to be open year-around, and free:
Recycle computers, metals, and appliances in Indianapolis, Indiana.

I'm wondering what Indianapolis will do, now that it is illegal to throw away electronics in your trash. I haven't seen them offer any alternative yet.

I use the ToxDrop site at the Perry Township Government Center behind the Shelby St fire station. (near Madison & Thompson) They make it convenient to get rid of all kinds of hazardous waste. You just drive up, fill out their form (name, address, and list of hazmat) and they'll unload your vehicle and get you on your way. You must be a resident of Marion County. This location is open the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month from 9am-2pm.

I was recycling my aluminum cans at OmniSource the other day & noticed a container full of old tv's , etc. They will take them but won't pay you for them, which is OK with me. I hate to put them in a landfill.
