I had always discounted Ron Paul as kind of a kook but today I went to his website and started reading. I couldn't stop. It was like reading something I had written myself.
How could I have been so blind? I blindly let the media influence what I believed Ron Paul was all about. Sign me up. I'm onboard.

I have been a closet believer for a while. i think he will be good for the country, not as a long term presidant, but an eye opener, and to get us back on the right path.

I was a mostly-progressive half-socialist before following Paul's campaign in 2008. I was really able to get my logic behind Marxist ideas based upon the perceived efficiency they could offer. Liberty was something I'd never really contemplated. It only took me a few months to come around to the idea of liberty & though I don't find firearms to be "fun", I now carry an XDm daily because of my shift to libertarian ideas. I don't agree with Paul 100% & have several members of this forum to thank for helping me to shape my views. Despite those disagreements, I believe Paul to be the best chance we've got, in 2012, at not becoming the nation our founders warned us against.

Now all you have to do is become really annoying and refuse to engage in reasonable discussion even with people who plan to vote for Ron Paul.

After that, you'll be in the club.

Reasonable discussion does not include stating your guess of the future decisions of millions of people as undeniable fact. You, Dross, are not particularly guilty of this, but many others are.

Reps for the effort; take it one step further and figure out why you "discounted Ron Paul as kind of a kook", and what you can do to change that part of your thinking.

The news media always portrayed him as someone out of touch. He is the only one in touch with what is realy going on in this country.

Some of us who haven't listened to The Media still don't like some of his views on foreign affairs (I personally don't like his views on abortion rights). If you can get behind his program, have at it. I can't.

Big problem for me, though I think his views on the role of government and economics outweighs the foreign policy at the moment.

But the huge looming iceberg for the S.S. Paul is the racist newsletter issue. That's going to explode after he wins Iowa.

Quoting for posterity. With the Left, the issue is never the issue. The logical, rational side of libertarians forgets that other people don't analyze the same information the same way. And they often come to a different conclusion.

I like a lot of what Mr Paul has to say. no disrespect to the good doctor but i dont think he will ever be president. but i think this could be good! i wonder if he stays in his position if he wouldnt have more impact than being president? sometimes less is more.

i dont think the country is ready for him as president but we need him as a teacher.

I used to be under the spell of the media too. Glad you broke free and unplugged.

(Insert any name here other than romney) is getting traction among voters.. *Smear that person!

The more one pays attention to what is going on the more disgusting it becomes.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade? Jones has to pick the chalice Christ drank from at the Last Supper.

Pepsi made a commercial out of it too.

    Did I win?

I'm really looking forward to having me some statist pig bacon!
I wonder if victory makes it taste better, or if it will be bitter, greasy, and full of disease. ;)
